Spring 2022 Update
The Counseling and Wellness Center offices are temporarily closed for renovation during spring quarter. However, we continue to provide virtual appointments for individual and couples counseling Monday–Friday. Students can schedule a drop-in phone consultation Monday-Friday, 10 am–4 pm, by calling 360-650-3164. After-hours crisis support is also available by calling 360-650-3164 and pressing or saying “1.” We have a full schedule of in-person groups, workshops, and events. Learn more by following us on Instagram or by subscribing to our newsletter!
There are multiple dimensions of wellness, multiple pathways to wellness, and multiple ways our wellness is impacted by—and contributes to—the wellness of our larger community.
At Western, we believe students who are actively encouraged and supported in their efforts to be well are better able to achieve their personal and academic goals.
Our goal in the Counseling and Wellness Center is to help you discover, learn, and cultivate positive, inclusive, empowering, and sustainable wellness practices at Western and beyond.
1. Review Your Self-Care Strategies
Self-care means taking care of yourself in ways that feel best to you, focusing on your own health and well-being, and finding comfort. Review your own self-care practices by answering the following questions:
Are you:
- Eating regularly?
- Getting enough sleep?
- Engaging in physical activity/movement?
- Spending time doing things you enjoy?
- Connecting with your community and support system?
- Practicing a routine/time management?
- Engaging in mindfulness/being present?
If you answered "I don't know" or "No" to any of the questions above, read on to learn more about the multiple pathways to wellness available to you through the Counseling and Wellness Center and our campus partners.
