About

Heather is a staff psychologist and therapeutic yoga teacher at the Counseling and Wellness Center. She obtained her doctorate from Pacific University and was a Clinical Instructor at the Lifestyle Clinic at the Department of Psychiatry at Stanford School of Medicine before joining the counseling center. She utilizes humanistic, client-centered, and self-compassionate somatic interventions in brief psychotherapy modeled from Gestalt Therapy and Buddhist psychology. She incorporates lifestyle interventions so students can enhance their resilience and build their self-efficacy. In her work, Heather works collaboratively with student to cultivate curiosity towards patterns of behavior, courage to make necessary changes to thrive, and acceptance for what it is to be a changing, growing, and evolving human being. She has experience working with people who have experienced trauma related to family dynamics, interpersonal relationships, relationship violence and/or sexual assault, medical trauma, burnout, and eating disorders/disordered eating.

Relationships, eating disorders, trauma related to sexual assault and relationship violence, life transitions, burnout, family stress and trauma, recovering from an injury, gender-affirming care, LGBTQIA+ supportive services, and social justice.
