Growing Wellness

A row of six pots place in grass with green hearts growing from the left and right pots and a bumblebee flying above the words Growing Wellness

Growing Wellness is a collaboration between the Counseling and Wellness Center and the Outback Farm providing nature-based strategies and connection with nature for well-being. Each workshop offers a plant-based teaching guided by the book, Plant Teachings For Growing Social-Emotional Skills: Cultivating Resiliency and Wellbeing with Northwest Plants. Please plan accordingly for the weather. Contact the CWC at least a day prior for accessibility accommodation.

Workshops

Hungry for Friends!

OCT 10 3-4 PM Outback Farm Outdoor Classroom

Through this session’s plant teacher, Blackberry, we will combine ecology, human behavior, and growth mindset in order to dynamically understand the importance of and how to re-establishing our ecosystem wherever we find ourselves planted, aspiring to help you connect to friends and community at WWU. We will have tea together, discuss, brainstorm, and experiment with a fun way to help our wild native plant friends grow and flourish.

Sur-thrive the Academic Year!

OCT 24 3-4 PM Outback Farm Outdoor Classroom

With grandmother Big Leaf Maple as our plant guide, we will learn how maple’s ecology, behavior, and wisdom can lead us towards choices that nourish our future growth and positive changes. We will learn, discuss, and apply our knowledge to a hands-on activity to help embody our personal intentions for the year ahead. To help sweeten the deal, we will have some local maple syrup on hand!
