Connecting With a Counselor

COVID-19 Notice

The Counseling and Wellness Center is open for telehealth Monday-Friday. Our drop-in phone consultations are available Monday-Friday, 10 am-4 pm, by calling 360-650-3164. After-hours crisis support is available by calling 360-650-3164 and pressing or saying “1.” If you are interested in initiating ongoing services, call us for a drop-in phone consultation.

Scheduling

Students choosing our Guided Pathway may connect with a counselor for a phone consultation to talk about support and resources. These are rapid-access, same-day sessions with our counselors. Phone consultations serve as a stand-alone support session, and students are welcome to utilize multiple phone consultations as needed.

During your session, you and your consultation counselor may decide that certain Independent Pathway resources could help you with your concerns. This could include using mental health apps, attending a Counseling and Wellness Center workshop, or connecting with a different university office. Your consultation counselor will explain how to access and utilize those resources.

You and your consultation counselor may also decide that other Guided Pathway services would be a good fit for your concerns. This may include intensive group therapy*, intensive individual therapy*, or a case management meeting to arrange off-campus services for more intensive or specialized support. If it is decided that individual therapy is a good fit for you, your consultation counselor will try to pair you with the therapist that best meets your needs. Please note, it may take up to two weeks to meet with your individual therapist.

*Due to state licensure laws, we can only provide intensive group therapy and intensive individual therapy to students currently located in Washington State.
